If you’re looking for a field experience that does not include a boat trip or snorkeling, we have the program for you! Our marine science instructors will guide your students in learning about marine invertebrates without ever leaving land. MarineLab’s coastal campus and mangrove lagoon provide ready access to learn about abundance and diversity in our environment.

INCLUDES BOAT TRIP TOUR, NO SNORKELING

Two lab activities followed by a field excursion on our US Coast Guard Inspected Passenger Vessel to tour the mangrove community in Florida Bay! Instructors will collect marine organisms and bring back to the boat for discussion, and students will test water quality parameters on land and in the field. No snorkeling is included in this program, which also makes it ideal for the cooler months.

INCLUDES ONE BOAT TRIP WITH SNORKELING

Let’s go snorkeling! This program includes a lab activity on invertebrate diversity, snorkel training and snorkeling in our protected mangrove lagoon, and a field trip on our US Coast Guard boat out to the coral reefs of the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary! Our marine science instructors guide and guard your students at every step. Mask, fins, snorkel, and snorkel vest are included.

INCLUDES TWO BOAT TRIPS WITH SNORKELING

This program immerses your students in the seagrass, mangrove, & coral reef communities of South Florida. Prior to your field trip, your class will get our eMarineLab program “Life on A Rock” to learn about invertebrates. During the field day, our instructors teach safe snorkeling skills, guide the students in their explorations, and provide an experience that your class will be talking about all year. Snorkel gear is included.
